Are you a people pleaser?
Do you feel the compulsive need to constantly say yes to external requests, just because you don’t want to upset the people around?
Which often leads to sacrificing your own tasks, goals and well being?
The inability to say no is a common side effect of being anti-confrontational, introverted, or in general being a “nice person”.
But in all of our lives there comes a point that the benefits of saying yes far outweigh the cost that we have to bear.
What do we do then?
How do we say no?
There are many guides and gurus who teach how to say no effectively.
I’ll share them below, but before you get into them, this is my most important insight around the reason for saying no more often -
Saying no is about taking control of your life, saying yes is about handing over that control to someone else.
Saying no is an active choice, its about focus bringing focus in your life. Saying yes is about fragmenting your focus and letting yourself get distracted.
Saying yes to one thing today, is saying no to a 100 other things in the future.
Saying no to one thing today, is keeping the door open for 100 other things in the future.
