The Shackles Of Money - Aditi
What would you do if Money was no constraint?
If you didn't have to care about money and there was a steady supply of it to take care of your basic needs then how would you invest your time?
Would you travel more? Or read more or write? Would you love to spend more time talking to people or would you just Netflix and chill?
Honestly, it is difficult to imagine a situation where money was no constraint. They say there are only two drugs that are addictive - cocaine and monthly salary. And I have been on this drug for way too long to be able to imagine a life without it. (I am talking about the later)
My current job and role offers me satisfaction that I may continue to do it even if I were not being paid for it. I think money aside, my job puts me in a place where I may be able to affect more lives than I would be able to do otherwise. Also I am valued there. So I would really want to be in a place where I affect lives positively and am being valued for my contribution.
So yes, Netflix and chill or travel - not my areas of interest.
Lets say by some magical instance I have more money than I can imagine and I am assured of a steady income, I may not really be going to my corporate role for the other constraints that it puts - like work hours, random corporate targets and show of strength via presentations etc
So yes, I would definitely leave the corporate role - I would read more, read deep, read wide. I would write more. Take care of my fitness more than I do now. I would home-school my kid. I would open a school so that my kid studies with other kids. I have a lot of ideas on education that I really want to explore. A school will give me a place to do all of that. I am sure I will be able to affect so many more lives positively if I do that.
Plus I will get to meet a lot of people across age groups and talk to all of them. I would journal my interaction with them. I believe there is lot of wisdom in talking to people that we often miss out on. I would journal all my interaction with people and make a book out of it maybe.
All of this does sound like a feasible dream.
Now as I write it, I want to start working in a manner that brings me closer to dream.
