Hey folks πŸ‘‹

How’s it going?

Welcome to Wisdom Letter #98.

This email will take less than 2 minutes of your time⌚

Today we are talking about Wealth.

As you might know, a couple of weeks ago I quit my full-time job.

A big reason for the decision was a change in the way I looked at money.

And more importantly Wealth.

Being wealthy is not the same as having a lot of money.

True wealth is being able to decide what you work on, who you work with, and when you work at it.

True wealth is Freedom.

And that freedom can sometimes come from having less money.

Yea, I quit my job to make less money.

But also to have more time to work on my projects and do the work that intrinsically motivates me.

And it wasn’t an easy decision.

I’ve spoken to friends and family about the decision, read a lot of books and articles about money, wealth, and the meaning of life.

And finally made the decision over a period of 6 months.

I will share more details about the decision once my notice period gets over in the next few weeks.

But today, we are sharing a brief curation of articles, videos and books that will help you think differently about money, wealth, and life in general.

Different from how society conditions us to think.

Let’s goπŸ‘‡

πŸ”–Β Bookmarks

  • The Psychology of Money | Morgan Housel

This is one of the best personal finance books. And its less about money, more about mindset.

Some of our favorite quotes from the book -

β€œUse money to gain control over your time, because not having control of your time is such a powerful and universal drag on happiness. The ability to do what you want, when you want, with who you want, for as long as you want to, pays the highest dividend that exists in finance.”

β€œdoing something you love on a schedule you can’t control can feel the same as doing something you hate.”

β€œSpending money to show people how much money you have is the fastest way to have less money.”

β€œIndependence, to me, doesn’t mean you’ll stop working. It means you only do the work you like with people you like at the times you want for as long as you want.”

πŸ’Something to chew on

How do you define wealth?

How do you make money?

What can you do to divorce your income from your time?

Think about itπŸ€”
