Hey folks👋
Welcome to Wisdom Letter #118.
December has sneaked upon us. Before we could realize the year is about to end.
This is a good time to reflect and reassess how the year has gone.
Part of that exercise for us is to look back at the best pieces of content we consumed throughout the year.
The best podcasts, articles, books, Tweets, newsletters.
So that’s what we are going to do all of December.
Today, we talk about the best podcasts of 2021.
Now, let’s go👇
1. Failing On Our Way To Mastery | Seth Godin on TKP
Seth Godin on The Knowledge Project was a treat to our minds. So much wisdom packed into an 80-minute conversation.
Do listen if you are a creative professional finding your path.
They talk about fear, shame, trusting yourself, becoming an observer of reality, how we learn, and so much more -
2. Will Work-from-Home Work Forever?
That’s the question we all want to be answered right?
Will we go back to the office and things would be the same as before, or we will work from home forever.
Well, as our friends at Freakonomics radio love to point out, the answer to most complex questions is much more nuanced than this.
Listen to this well researched, mind-blowing episode to find out the answer -
3. Achieving maximum human optimization | MFM
“My First Million” is our new favorite podcast. It’s a recent find, and almost every episode is mind-blowing.
The nature of the podcast is such that you feel like you’re listening to two of your friends talking in their living room. But the content is so high quality.
And even more so if you’re an entrepreneur interested in building businesses and creating wealth.
This particular episode is special because here they interview Rob Dyrdek.
I didn’t know who he was before this episode, and during the 1-hour conversation, I became a huge fan of the guy.
He’s an athlete, actor, venture capitalist, entrepreneur, most of all he is the peak of human optimization.
By meticulously measuring every second of his life for the last 5 years, he’s been able to achieve tremendous wealth and personal happiness.
Must listen -
4. Balaji on How to Fix the Media, Cloud Communities & Crypto | MFM
Another episode from “my first million” podcast. As I said, this is our new favorite show.
This time the hosts spoke to Balaji Srinivasan.
Balaji is a modern-day polymath, like if Leonardo Da Vinci was living in the 21st century, working in tech, and had a Twitter account.
He has so much knowledge and depth in so many different fields, and he has a knack for getting predictions right. Most notably he had predicted the pandemic before it began.
Watch this episode for his ideas on media, communities and Crypto -
5. The Wonders of Web3 | Tim Ferris
Like it or not, Web3 and NFTs have the defining feature of 2021. And will continue to shape the world over the next few years to come.
It’s a highly technical and nuanced topic that takes some effort to understand.
And there aren’t two people better equipped to explain the nuances than Naval Ravikant and Chris Dixon.
Their conversation on the Tim Ferris show was probably the best podcast of the year and will be referenced for many years to come.
My biggest takeaway - an NFT is like a webpage, a general-purpose technology with wide applications.
You won’t regret the 2 hours that you spend on this -
Hope you enjoy these episodes. We are podcast junkies, we’ve listened to more than 100 shows this year, these were the top 5 we could come up with.
Tell us which ones you liked, we would love to listen to more amazing podcasts.
